Tim the Yowie Man is one of Australia’s most accomplished travel writers.

Over the last 25 years he has authored three travel books, contributed to several others and published over 1.5 million words and 15000 photos in travel magazines, blogs and newspapers in Australia and around the world. A regular contributor to Australian Geographic and The Canberra Times, he is also a long-standing and respected member of the Australian Society of Travel Writers.

Tim the Yowie Man offers travel writing workshops for high schools and specialises in presenting to writing camps in and around the Canberra region.

His standard travel writing workshop is 1.5 – 2 hours long and designed for Years 6-10, but he can adapt the content and length of the workshop on a per case basis.

His interactive workshop covers:

  • What exactly is travel writing
  • How it differs from other types of writing
  • Trials and tribulations of 25 years of travel writing
  • Travel writing techniques
  • The research process
  • Writing for a specific audience
  • Writing exercises for the students.

Testimonial: A Canberra staple and local celebrity, our students loved Tim the Yowie Man’s workshop on travel writing and journalism. Informative, funny and with great insights, Tim captured our students’ attention and helped them explore this specialised writing field and potential career path.
